BASEBALL CANADA WINS BRONZE AT WORLD CUP

NETTUNO, Italy – Team Canada was officially awarded its bronze medal at the closing ceremonies of the 38th Baseball World Cup, but some Canadians came home with some extra hardware at the conclusion of the tournament..

Matt Kniginyzky (Oakville, ON) was awarded the Best Earned Run Average Award after posting an ERA of 0.00 in three starts during the tournament. Rene Tosoni (Coquitlam, BC) will also be bringing home some extra baggage after being awarded the Most Runs Scored Award..

Two Canadians were also selected to the All-World Team as Trystan Magnuson (Vancouver, BC) was named as top relief pitcher and Shawn Bowman (Port Moody, BC) was selected at third base..

Team Canada will be making their way back to Canada on Monday, September 28th. The next Baseball Canada event is the Junior National Team Fall Instructional League Camp, which takes place from October 5th-15th at Disney’s Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida.
