BASEBALL NIGHT AT THE ST. MARYS LINCOLNS GAME

Meet former Major League Baseball pitcher Mike Kilkenny

The first ever Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum night at the St. Marys Lincolns game will take place on Friday, February 8th when the Lincolns take on the Strathroy Rockets. Come join in the fun and meet former Detroit Tigers pitcher Mike Kilkenny.

Born in Bradford, Ontario on April 11, 1945, Mike “Killer” Kilkenny was signed by the Detroit Tigers in 1964. He played 10 seasons of professional baseball, spending time with the Detroit Tigers, Oakland A’s, San Diego Padres and Cleveland Indians. While with Detroit, Mike played alongside Tigers greats such as Denny McLain and Al Kaline. Mike was named Detroit Tigers’ Rookie of the Year in 1969, a year in which he finished 3rd in the American League in shutouts. Over his career, he pitched in 139 games, with 23 wins and 301 strikeouts over 410 innings, with a career 4.43 ERA.

After his professional playing days, he pitched in the Intercounty Baseball League with the London Majors who recently retired his jersey #17. In 1975, he had arguably the best season by a pitcher in team history, going 9-0 in the regular season and 5-0 in the playoffs to lead the Majors to their last Intercounty title.

After retiring from professional baseball, Mike played on various professional golf tours, including the PGA Senior Tour. He has been teaching golf since 1968 and has tutored several professional golfers, most recently Ted Potter Jr., who is currently ranked in the top 100 on the PGA Tour.

Mike and his wife Edie presently divide their time between Belmont, Ontario and Ocala, Florida.

Mike will drop the ceremonial puck to start the game and will be available for autographs and photos at the Hall of Fame table during the game.

While at the Hall of Fame table check out the amazing one-of-a-kind artifacts from the museum, learn about our exciting plans for the future and sign up for our Hometown Membership.
