Il a laiss\u00e9 sa marque partout au niveau local, provincial et national.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apr\u00e8s avoir obtenu son dipl\u00f4me en droit \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de la Saskatchewan en 1954, Shury a aid\u00e9 \u00e0 fonder l\u2019association du baseball de la Saskatchewan en 1955 et a \u00e9t\u00e9 nomm\u00e9 pr\u00e9sident l\u2019ann\u00e9e suivante. Tout en pratiquant le droit, il \u00e9tait secr\u00e9taire pour la f\u00e9d\u00e9ration de baseball amateur du Canada et a aid\u00e9 \u00e0 mettre sur pied la premi\u00e8re \u00e9quipe nationale qui a repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 le pays aux Jeux panam\u00e9ricains de 1967 \u00e0 Winnipeg. Au m\u00eame moment, il menait de front la n\u00e9gociation avec le gouvernement du Canada pour le financement de ce qui allait devenir Baseball Canada.
