N\u00e9 en 1935 \u00e0 Winnipeg, au Manitoba, Joe Wiwchar a consacr\u00e9 sept d\u00e9cennies au baseball dans sa province natale, en tant que joueur, entra\u00eeneur, b\u00e9n\u00e9vole, dirigeant et administrateur. One of his most successful years was 1971 when he managed the South Central Beavers Peewee squad to a provincial title and a silver medal at the Western Canada Championship. That same year, he started a 28-year tenure as head coach of the Morden Mohawks of the Border League, a senior baseball circuit. During one stretch with the Mohawks, he piloted the club to 12 league championships in 18 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Au niveau national, Wiwchar a fait partie de l'ex\u00e9cutif de Baseball Canada en 1974 et 1975. Il a \u00e9galement apport\u00e9 son aide \u00e0 l'\u00e9chelle internationale. Par exemple, en 1994, il a servi de chaperon pour cinq enfants canadiens \u00e0 la World Children's Baseball Fair au Japon, puis l'ann\u00e9e suivante, il a travaill\u00e9 comme entra\u00eeneur-chef de quatre \u00e9quipes d'enfants \u00e0 La Rochelle, en France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En 1998, il est devenu le premier directeur administratif du Temple de la renomm\u00e9e du baseball manitobain, poste qu'il a occup\u00e9 jusqu'en 2022. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 son leadership, ce panth\u00e9on est consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme l'un des plus int\u00e9ressants mus\u00e9e sportif au pays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pour souligner ses implications, Wiwchar a \u00e9t\u00e9 intronis\u00e9 dans la Manitoba Baseball Association Honour Society en 1989 et a \u00e9t\u00e9 nomm\u00e9 membre \u00e0 vie par la Western Canada Baseball Association. Il a \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 intronis\u00e9 au Temple de la renomm\u00e9e du baseball du Manitoba en 1999 et a re\u00e7u le prix du service b\u00e9n\u00e9vole de l'Ordre de l'excellence sportive de Sport Manitoba sept ans plus tard. En 2011, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 intronis\u00e9 au Temple de la renomm\u00e9e des sports du Manitoba et, la m\u00eame ann\u00e9e, la ville de Morden a renomm\u00e9 un terrain de baseball en son honneur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
