Rich Harden est l'un des deux anciens lanceurs canadiens \u00e0 \u00eatre intronis\u00e9s au Temple en 2023.
<\/p>

Harden est originaire de Victoria, en Colombie-Britannique, et a \u00e9t\u00e9 rep\u00each\u00e9 par les Mariners de Seattle \u00e0 la 38e ronde en 1999, mais a choisi d'aller \u00e0 l'universit\u00e9 au lieu de signer un contrat professionnel. Il a ensuite \u00e9t\u00e9 rep\u00each\u00e9 par les Athletics d'Oakland au 17e tour de 2000 et a sign\u00e9 avec l'\u00e9quipe le 28 mai 2001, peu apr\u00e8s avoir obtenu son dipl\u00f4me universitaire. Harden a fait ses d\u00e9buts dans la MLB avec les Athletics le 21 juillet 2003 contre les Royals de Kansas City. Cette casquette des Athletics d'Oakland \u00e9tait celle de Harden lors de la s\u00e9rie d'ouverture 2008 qui s'est d\u00e9roul\u00e9e \u00e0 Tokyo, au Japon, les 25 et 26 mars 2008. Les A's ont affront\u00e9 les Red Sox de Boston pour une s\u00e9rie de deux matchs au Tokyo Dome - les deux premiers matchs de la saison 2008 de la MLB. Harden \u00e9tait le lanceur partant pour le deuxi\u00e8me match, lan\u00e7ant six manches pour Oakland et retirant neuf frappeurs sur des prises tout en ne permettant qu'un seul point, un coup de circuit en solo dans la sixi\u00e8me manche. Les Athletics ont battu les Red Sox 5-1, partageant ainsi la s\u00e9rie.<\/p>\n

Harden wore the below jersey in 2008, which was the Oakland Athletics’ 40th anniversary season. Harden began the 2008 season with the Athletics, going 5-1 with a 2.34 ERA in 13 starts. Un mois plus tard, Harden a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9chang\u00e9 aux Cubs de Chicago dans une transaction impliquant six joueurs, ainsi que le lanceur\/releveur Chad Gaudin. En \u00e9change des deux lanceurs, les Athletics ont re\u00e7u le lanceur Sean Gallagher, le voltigeur Matt Murton, le joueur de champ int\u00e9rieur Eric Patterson et le joueur de ligue mineure Josh Donaldson.<\/p>\n
