Malgr\u00e9 l'engouement suscit\u00e9 par l'excellente formation des Blue Jays sur papier, l'\u00e9quipe a commenc\u00e9 la saison sur une mauvaise note, s'inclinant 8-1 face aux Mariners de Seattle. Les performances des Blue Jays sont rest\u00e9es m\u00e9diocres jusqu'\u00e0 la mi-mai, date \u00e0 laquelle ils ont entam\u00e9 une s\u00e9rie de victoires qui leur a permis de se hisser en t\u00eate de leur division \u00e0 la fin du mois de juin. Cela a \u00e9t\u00e9 rendu possible en partie par le retour du v\u00e9t\u00e9ran Tony Fern\u00e1ndez dans l'\u00e9quipe, jouant un r\u00f4le de stabilisateur. Cependant, les Jays ont rapidement rencontr\u00e9 un autre probl\u00e8me. Ils perdent dix de leurs onze matchs avant la pause du match des \u00e9toiles, ne parvenant \u00e0 conserver la premi\u00e8re position de la division que par un demi-match.<\/span><\/p>

En tant que g\u00e9rant de l'\u00e9quipe victorieuse de la pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente S\u00e9rie mondiale, Cito Gaston, des Jays, a dirig\u00e9 l'\u00e9quipe \u00e9toile de la Ligue am\u00e9ricaine en 1993. C'est peut-\u00eatre cette victoire au match des \u00e9toiles qui a aid\u00e9 les Jays \u00e0 sortir de leur mauvaise passe. Le 31 juillet, ils affichent un bilan de 60-45. C'est \u00e9galement \u00e0 la fin du mois de juillet, quelques heures seulement avant la date limite des \u00e9changes, que les Jays s\u2019entendent avec le rapide voltigeur Rickey Henderson, qui insuffle une dose de confiance \u00e0 l'\u00e9quipe. Bien qu'ils aient perdu six matchs de suite au d\u00e9but du mois de septembre, ils ont rapidement compens\u00e9 par une s\u00e9rie de neuf victoires. L'\u00e9quipe termine la saison par une victoire 11-6 sur les Orioles de Baltimore, ce qui lui donne une fiche de 95-67, un pourcentage de victoire de ,586 comparativement \u00e0 ,543 pour les Yankees.
