Les Jays entament leur cinqui\u00e8me S\u00e9rie de championnat le 5 octobre au Comiskey Park, pr\u00eats \u00e0 affronter les White Sox de Chicago dans une s\u00e9rie quatre de sept. Les White Sox ont termin\u00e9 la saison avec une fiche de 94-68 (jouant pour ,580).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Les Jays ont fait confiance \u00e0 leur as Juan Guzm\u00e1n pour affronter Jack McDowell des White Sox. Personne n\u2019a marqu\u00e9 au cours des trois premi\u00e8res manches, mais les White Sox ont pris une avance de 3-2 \u00e0 la fin de la quatri\u00e8me. Les Jays ont ensuite r\u00e9ussi un circuit de deux points en septi\u00e8me manche, ce qui leur a permis de remporter le match 7-3.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Le deuxi\u00e8me match a vu Dave Stewart affronter Alex Fernandez des White Sox. Apr\u00e8s une manche de jeu, c\u2019\u00e9tait l\u2019\u00e9galit\u00e9 1-1 et c\u2019est rest\u00e9 ainsi jusqu'au d\u00e9but de la quatri\u00e8me manche, lorsque Tony Fern\u00e1ndez et Pat Borders ont r\u00e9ussi des simples d\u2019un point chacun. Les trois matchs suivants se d\u00e9roulent \u00e0 Toronto, mais l'avantage du terrain n'appara\u00eet pas dans les matchs 3 et 4. Dans le troisi\u00e8me match, Pat Hentgen, des Jays, affronte Wilson \u00c1lvarez, des White Sox. Les Sox ont marqu\u00e9 les cinq premiers points, tous r\u00e9ussi en troisi\u00e8me manche. Les Jays ont r\u00e9pliqu\u00e9 pour un seul point \u00e0 leur retour au b\u00e2ton. Hentgen a \u00e9t\u00e9 remplac\u00e9 par Danny Cox en quatri\u00e8me apr\u00e8s avoir permis deux simples successifs, mais cela n'a pas suffi \u00e0 rallier les Jays et les White Sox ont marqu\u00e9 un autre point. Ils battent Toronto 6 \u00e0 1.<\/span><\/p>

Dans le quatri\u00e8me match, Todd Stottlemyer est envoy\u00e9 au monticule contre Jason Bere. Les White Sox prennent l\u2019avance 2-0 en deuxi\u00e8me manche, mais les Jays prennent les devants par un point en fin de troisi\u00e8me manche. La performance d'Alomar en fin de sixi\u00e8me a permis aux Jays de marquer un point suppl\u00e9mentaire, mais ils se sont finalement inclin\u00e9s 7-4 face aux White Sox.<\/span><\/p>

Les Jays ont finalement remport\u00e9 une victoire \u00e0 domicile lors du cinqui\u00e8me match, Guzm\u00e1n affrontant une fois de plus McDowell. Une erreur de McDowell a permis \u00e0 Henderson de croiser le marbre et aux Jays de prendre l\u2019avance par un point. Toronto a ensuite marqu\u00e9 un point en deuxi\u00e8me, troisi\u00e8me et quatri\u00e8me manches. Chicago a r\u00e9ussi un coup de circuit en cinqui\u00e8me, imit\u00e9 par Toronto en septi\u00e8me. La s\u00e9rie championnat s'est termin\u00e9 au Comiskey Park, les Jays menant la s\u00e9rie 3-2. Une fois de plus, c'est Fern\u00e1ndez qui s'oppose \u00e0 Stewart au monticule. Toronto marque en premier lorsque Borders frappe un simple de deux points en d\u00e9but de deuxi\u00e8me manche. Les White Sox \u00e9galisent d\u00e8s la manche suivante, mais les Jays reprennent les devants en quatri\u00e8me manche lorsque Molitor est sauf sur une erreur et vient marquer sur un optionnel. Aucun autre point n\u2019est marqu\u00e9 jusqu'en neuvi\u00e8me manche, lorsque White frappe un coup de circuit et que Molitor r\u00e9ussi un triple de deux points. Les White Sox r\u00e9duisent l\u2019\u00e9cart gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un circuit solo, mais au troisi\u00e8me retrait, les Jays gagnent le match 6-3 et la S\u00e9rie de championnat de la Ligue am\u00e9ricaine!<\/span><\/p>
