\u00c9rik B\u00e9dard, n\u00e9 le 5 mars 1979 \u00e0 Navan (Ontario), est un ancien lanceur de baseball professionnel qui a jou\u00e9 11 saisons dans les Ligues majeures. Lanceur gaucher dominant, avec une balle courbe d\u00e9vastatrice et un taux \u00e9lev\u00e9 de retraits sur des prises, B\u00e9dard \u00e9tait l'un des meilleurs lanceurs canadiens de son \u00e9poque.<\/p>

La passion de B\u00e9dard pour le baseball s'est manifest\u00e9e d\u00e8s son jeune \u00e2ge et il a perfectionn\u00e9 ses habilet\u00e9s au Norwalk Community College, au Connecticut, o\u00f9 il a rapidement \u00e9t\u00e9 reconnu comme un excellent lanceur. Le talentueux gaucher a \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9 par les Orioles de Baltimore au sixi\u00e8me tour du rep\u00eachage de 1999 et est rapidement devenu l'un des meilleurs espoirs de l'organisation au monticule. B\u00e9dard a fait ses d\u00e9buts dans la MLB<\/b> le 17 avril 2002 avec les Orioles (voir artefact 1)<\/b>. En 2006, il a connu une saison exceptionnelle en \u00e9tablissant des records en carri\u00e8re pour les victoires (15), les d\u00e9parts (33) et les manches lanc\u00e9es (196,1). Il a ensuite r\u00e9alis\u00e9 sa meilleure campagne dans les Majeures en 2007, avec 13 victoires, une MPM de 3,16 et 221 retraits sur des prises en 182 manches. La domination de B\u00e9dard sur le monticule en a fait un lanceur tr\u00e8s recherch\u00e9, ce qui a men\u00e9 \u00e0 une transaction majeure avec les Mariners de Seattle (voir artefact 2)<\/b> en f\u00e9vrier 2008. Puis, \u00e0 la date limite des \u00e9changes de 2011, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9chang\u00e9 de Seattle aux Red Sox de Boston, o\u00f9 il a termin\u00e9 la saison. Il a ensuite termin\u00e9 sa carri\u00e8re dans les ligues majeures avec les Pirates de Pittsburgh (2012), les Astros de Houston (2013) et les Rays de Tampa Bay (2014). Au total, B\u00e9dard a r\u00e9colt\u00e9 71 victoires, une MPM 3,99 et 1 246 retraits sur des prises en 241 matchs. Il est le 6e Canadien \u00e0 avoir entrepris au moins 200 matchs<\/b> dans les Majeures\u00a0(voir artefact 3)<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Parmi les lanceurs canadiens, B\u00e9dard demeure le meneur de tous les temps chez les gauchers pour les d\u00e9parts (230), les manches lanc\u00e9es (1 303,2) et les retraits sur des prises (1 246). Il se classe \u00e9galement parmi les 10 meilleurs lanceurs canadiens dans plusieurs cat\u00e9gories, soit troisi\u00e8me pour les retraits sur des prises, quatri\u00e8me pour les d\u00e9parts, sixi\u00e8me pour les manches lanc\u00e9es, septi\u00e8me pour le WAR (17,4) et 10e pour les victoires (71).<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Malgr\u00e9 les blessures, B\u00e9dard demeure l'un des lanceurs canadiens les plus accomplis de l'histoire de la MLB.
