{"id":21257,"date":"2020-06-26T12:14:59","date_gmt":"2020-06-26T16:14:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/baseballhalloffame.ca\/?p=21257"},"modified":"2020-06-26T12:14:59","modified_gmt":"2020-06-26T16:14:59","slug":"canadian-baseball-hall-of-fame-and-museum-announces-new-chair-and-board-for-2020-21","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/baseballhalloffame.ca\/fr\/canadian-baseball-hall-of-fame-and-museum-announces-new-chair-and-board-for-2020-21\/","title":{"rendered":"Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum announces new Chair and Board for 2020-21"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum announces new Chair and Board for 2020-21<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/baseballhalloffame.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/logo2-942x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Baseball hall of fame\" class=\"wp-image-14577\" width=\"168\" height=\"183\"\/><figcaption><br><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>June 26, 2020<br>St. Marys, ON \u2013 The Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum (CBHFM) is pleased to announce its 2020-21 Board of Directors, including the appointment of Jeremy Diamond, CEO of Myseum of Toronto, as Board Chair for a four year term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJeremy is an accomplished leader with more than 20\nyears of experience in fundraising, program development and\ncommunications.&nbsp; He is a visionary with\nan outstanding track record of delivering quality initiatives and building\nstrong relationships with partners and stakeholders.&nbsp; His personal passion for the sport of\nbaseball and Canada makes him the perfect choice to lead the Board,\u201d said Adam\nStephens, whose term as Board Chair has expired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBaseball and museums in Canada and around the world\nare facing an unprecedented period,\u201d said Diamond. \u201cIn my role as Chair I will\nwork closely with the Board and the CBHFM staff to ensure we innovate and prepare\nfor recovery following the economic challenges imposed by the pandemic.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am proud to serve as Chair of the CBHFM\u2019s board,\u201d\nDiamond added, \u201cand look forward to accelerating the growth and reach of the\nHall across the country focused on the many contributions this great game has\nmade to Canada.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CBHFM board extends its sincere thanks to Adam\nStephens, Litigation Partner, Miller Thomson LLP, who served as Board Chair for\nthe past four years.&nbsp; We thank Adam for\nhis tireless work ethic and many contributions to the CBHFM.&nbsp; Under his leadership, Adam took CBHFM to new\nlevels, raising much needed funds and forming important local and national\npartnerships, all culminating in the opening of the newly renovated Museum in\n2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CBHFM is in a strong financial position as it\napproaches the mid-point of the year. However, in these challenging times we\nalways encourage friends of the Board to donate and support as they are\nable.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the announcement of the Board of Directors, the CBHFM is announcing that our 2020 induction weekend has been officially postponed until June 2021. Established in\n1982, our museum, located in St. Marys, Ontario, is a registered charity with a\nvast collection of artifacts that date back to the 1860s. The Hall of Fame and\nMuseum is situated on our 32-acre site which also houses the Harry Simmons\nMemorial Library, four baseball fields and walking trails.&nbsp; We strive to\nnot only educate our visitors and supporters but also champion a culture that\nprioritizes respect, diversity and a healthy lifestyle. Our 133 inductees range\nfrom World Series-winning players to pioneering grassroots executives, and each\nof their unique and inspiring stories are highlighted in our museum. Each year,\nwe also honour the top Canadian player with our James \u201cTip\u201d O\u2019Neill Award, and\npresent our Jack Graney Award to a media member who has made significant\ncontributions to baseball in Canada through their life\u2019s work. At our core, we\nexist to ensure that Canadians and visitors to Canada value baseball and are\nable to benefit from the important life lessons the sport can teach.
