N\u00e9 \u00e0 Fort William en Ontario, Jeff Heath et sa famille ont d\u00e9m\u00e9nag\u00e9 \u00e0 Victoria en Colombie-Britannique alors qu\u2019il avait un an. Jeff s\u2019est d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 en un frappeur de puissance et a \u00e9t\u00e9 remarqu\u00e9 pour les Indians de Cleveland. Alors avec l\u2019\u00e9quipe affili\u00e9e \u00e0 Zanesville en 1936, sa moyenne de ,383 et ses 187 points produits ont fait de lui un espoir de premier plan et lui ont valu un appel avec le grand club au mois de septembre.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00c0 ses d\u00e9buts, le 13 septembre 1936, Heath s\u2019est fait voler la vedette pour son futur cochambreur, Bob Feller, qui a retir\u00e9 17 frappeurs sur des prises au cours de ce match. Il a aussi cogn\u00e9 pour ,340, vol\u00e9 18 buts et invit\u00e9 \u00e0 son premier match des \u00e9toiles. En 1945, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9chang\u00e9 aux Senators de Washington qui l\u2019ont eux-m\u00eames envoy\u00e9s aux Browns de Saint Louis deux mois plus tard. En d\u00e9cembre 1947, son contrat a \u00e9t\u00e9 vendu aux Braves de Boston o\u00f9 il a frapp\u00e9 pour ,319 et r\u00e9ussi 20 longues balles. Alors qu\u2019il ne restait qu\u2019une semaine au calendrier r\u00e9gulier de 1948, Heath s\u2019est bless\u00e9 \u00e0 la cheville en glissant au marbre, l\u2019emp\u00eachant de participer \u00e0 sa premi\u00e8re S\u00e9rie mondiale. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
