Lanceur gaucher avec l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Southern California, \u00e9quipe championne de la NCAA en 1958, Pat Gillick a pass\u00e9 cinq ans dans l\u2019organisation des Orioles de Baltimore. Des maux de bras ont forc\u00e9 l\u2019athl\u00e8te \u00e0 se retirer et \u00e0 accepter un poste dans les bureaux des Colts .45\u2019s de Houston alors qu\u2019il n\u2019\u00e9tait \u00e2g\u00e9 que de 26 ans.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s une d\u00e9cennie comme d\u00e9pisteur avec Houston, Gillick a \u00e9t\u00e9 embauch\u00e9 par les Yankees de New York comme coordonnateur au d\u00e9veloppement des joueurs en 1974 puis comme vice-pr\u00e9sident du personnel des joueurs des Blue Jays de Toronto en 1976. En 18 ans \u00e0 Toronto, Gillick a aid\u00e9 \u00e0 transformer les Jays en \u00e9quipe d\u2019expansion en championne du monde. Dave Stieb, Jimmy Key, George Bell, Fred McGriff, Tom Henke, Joe Carter et Roberto Alomar sont des joueurs rep\u00each\u00e9s ou sign\u00e9s au cours du r\u00e8gne de Gillick comme directeur-g\u00e9n\u00e9ral. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Avec Gillick en poste, les Jays ont connu 11 campagnes gagnantes de suite (1983 \u00e0 1993), cinq titres de division (1985, 1989, 1991, 1992 et 1993) et deux conqu\u00eates de la S\u00e9rie mondiale (1992 et 1993). Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 nomm\u00e9 l\u2019homme de baseball de l\u2019ann\u00e9e au Canada \u00e0 deux reprises (1983 et 1991), le dirigeant de l\u2019ann\u00e9e dans la Ligue am\u00e9ricaine trois fois (1985, 1992 et 1993), le sportif de l\u2019ann\u00e9e selon The Sporting News (ex-aequo avec Cito Gaston en 1993). Les Jays l\u2019ont nomm\u00e9 au club d\u2019excellence en 2002, le sixi\u00e8me membre \u00e0 recevoir ce privil\u00e8ge.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Since his departure from the Jays, Gillick has led three more franchises to post-season appearances: Baltimore (1996, 1997), Seattle (2000, 2001) and Philadelphia (2007, 2008). \u00a0<\/span>He\u2019s the only GM in major league history to guide four different clubs to the playoffs. When the Philadelphia Phillies won the Fall Classic in 2008, Gillick added a third championship to his resume. On July 24, 2011 he was Inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, NY. Pat won the Roland Hemond Award for achievement in scouting and player development at the Baseball America awards gala in December 2016.<\/span><\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
