By Barry M. Bloom / MLB.com

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — Pat Gillick quoted the late, great Seattle broadcaster Dave Niehaus. Roberto Alomar said to his family, fans and the game of baseball that “you will always be my life and my love.”

Bert Blyleven said Jay Black, the lead singer of a long ago rock group called Jay and the Americans, told him that Sunday “will be your ‘Magic Moment,'” referring to the band’s 1969 hit single, “This Magic Moment.”

Certainly, it was the magic moment for all three, who were inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame during the annual ceremony behind the Clark Sports Center located about a mile from the red-bricked museum on Main Street. The skies were clear and the warm sun played nip and tuck for at least part of the day with billowy upstate New York clouds.
