Conducting Research at CBHFM

At CBHFM we have two invaluable resources that we make available to researchers upon request: Bibliothèque Harry-Simmons, and the CBHFM Collection itself.

We pride ourselves on having the best baseball resource library in Canada, with over 10,000 books and other publications to support the work of researchers. The library is also the home of the Centre de recherche du baseball canadien which makes regular use of the space to conduct their own research.

The CBHFM Collection contains approximately 15,000 artifacts and archival materials, most of which can be made available to researchers upon request.

Accessing the Library or Collection

We will provide access to the library or collection under staff supervision during scheduled hours of operation. Access to objects and documentation will be provided with a confirmed appointment made with at least 24 hours notice (for the security of the collection we cannot allow walk-ins). Appointments can be requested by emailing [email protected] with details of the request. Before scheduling an appointment, please have a look at the research fees, listed below.

Conditions of Access

Please note that some restrictions apply to our collection which may impact your research. Certain items may be too fragile to pull from storage, or their contents could compromise the security of the donor or subject. In these circumstances we do try to make digital copies available.

This is NOT a lending library so any resources can only be accessed in-house. We will provide you with the necessary tools and information to access our collection upon your arrival.
