Major League Baseball released it’s 2014 All Star Game rosters on Sunday for this year’s event July 15 at Target Field in Minneapolis.
Notably, Jose Bautista lead all players with a total of 5,859,019 fan votes while the Oakland Athletics will be sending a league high six individual players to Minneapolis, seven if you’re counting recently acquired right-hander, Jeff Samardzija who had been named to the National League team despite his trade to Oakland on Saturday night.
Other key stories include the selection of Orioles catcher, Matt Wieters, who played in a mere 26 games prior to tearing an ulnar-collateral ligament and requiring season endingTommy John surgery as well as another stop on Derek Jeter’s farewell tour. The Yankee shortstop will be making his 14th and final career All Star Game start later this month.
