SABR’s Biographical Committee announced the newest Canadian discovered in their November/December 2012 newsletter. Joseph Brown was born in Albion twp, Peel (now a suburb of Toronto) on April 4, 1859. He had a short career as a pitcher and outfielder in 1884 with the Chicago White Stockings and 1885 with Baltimore. He died at the young age of 29 on June 28, 1888 in the USA.
As of today, there has been 249 Canadians play MLB starting in 1871. Both Jim Henderson and Phillippe Aumont made their debuts in 2012.
