1943-54
The AAGPBL uniforms were based on those utilized in other ‘acceptable’ female sports like figure skating, tennis and field hockey. They consisted of a short tunic-style dress in a pastel color that was belted at the waist, a pair of undershorts, and an elasticized baseball cap. Some of the players found the uniforms uncomfortable as they were made to show off their figure and their legs, to appeal to their audience. Others appreciated the short skirt as it allowed for a wider range of movement.
