Nomination

Process

All nominees must be either Canadian or have done something significant in baseball in Canada. Anyone who has accomplished the following will be included on the ballot:

These are the minimum requirements for election into CBHFM . Separate ballots by category will be provided.

Male Player

*Must be retired from high-level competition for three years
*Canadian played at least ten (10) years or ten (10) major competitions on senior national team
*Canadian played at least 25 games in MLB
*All who obtain at least 75% of vote will gain entry

Female Player

* Must be retired from high-level competition for three years
*Canadian played at least ten (10) years on senior national team
*All who obtain at least 75% of vote will gain entry. If no one receives at least 75% of vote, the nominee who gains the highest percentage of vote will gain entry.

Veteran/Pioneer

*All nominees must be at least 25 years inactive
*Those who have fallen off the ballot after nine years
*All who obtain at least 75% of vote will gain entry. If no one receives at least 75% of vote, the nominee who gains the highest percentage of vote will gain entry.

Builder (includes Scout, Writer, Broadcaster, Executive, Trainer, Historian)  

*Major impact in the growth of baseball in Canada or internationally
*Nominees can still be active
*All who obtain at least 75% of vote will gain entry. If no one receives at least 75% of vote, the nominee who gains the highest percentage of vote will gain entry.

Coach  

*Canadian managed at least one season in MLB
*Coached or managed at least ten (10) years on the national team
*Any coach or manager of at least five (5) years with the Toronto Blue Jays or Montreal Expos and made a significant contribution
*Any professional level of coaching and made a significant contribution
*Nominees can still be active
*All who obtain at least 75% of vote will gain entry. If no one receives at least 75% of vote, the nominee who gains the highest percentage of vote will gain entry.

Official

*All nominees must have either umpired at a professional level for at least 10 (ten) years or at international level
*Nominees can still be active
*All who obtain at least 75% of vote will gain entry. If no one receives at least 75% of vote, the nominee who gains the highest percentage of vote will gain entry.

*Please note that Teams will fall under the male or female category.

All qualified nominees remain on the ballot for up to nine (9) years, provided the nominee does not receive less than two votes two years in a row.  Should a nominee receive less than two vote, two years in a row, the nominee is removed from the ballot.  Nominees may not be renominated for one year.

A person must be nominated by a member of the public. Deadline for nomination is December 1st of each year. Completed nomination forms can be emailed to [email protected] by the submission deadline.

Selection Committee consists of 24 individuals spread across Canada including media, past inductees, historians and executives.
