Making the Catch
The Glove
That perfect catch, that amazing throw, that cheer from the crowd…
Canadian baseball history is defined by moments like these, but also the tangible, material objects used by players in their moments of triumph and defeat. The thousands of artifacts in the collection of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum illuminate the history of sports gear manufacturing and distribution in Canada, and performed by Canadians abroad.
By examining five baseball gloves ranging from circa 1910 to 1960, we can appreciate the countless labourers and entrepreneurs who worked off the field to make Canadian play possible
