CANADIAN TOSONI GETS FIRST MLB HIT

MINNEAPOLIS — Less than 24 hours after getting the news that he was going to be called up for the first time in his young career, Rene Tosoni made his Major League debut with the Twins on Thursday, playing in left field and batting seventh.

Tosoni got a hit in his first big league at-bat, lacing a single into right field in the third inning off Rays right-hander Jeremy Hellickson. He also added his first RBI with a single in the seventh inning and finished 2-for-4 in Game 1 of the day-night doubleheader.
