This bat was owned and used by Gary Carter while playing for the Montreal Expos in 1982. Carter was drafted by the Montreal Expos in the third round of the 1972 Major League Baseball draft and had his major league debut with the Expos on September 16th, 1974.

Carter was voted the “Expos Player of the Year” four times, in 1975, 1977, 1980, and 1984 and had his number retired by the Expos following his 19 year MLB career. Carter was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2001 and into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown in 2003. Carter was the first Cooperstown Inductee whose plaque shows him as a Montreal Expo.
