On Sunday, April 3, 2011 Canadian Matt Stairs suited up for his 13th Major League team when he played for the Washington Nationals and that is a new MLB record for most teams played for in a career. Matt previously held the record with Mike Morgan and Ron Villone. Now the interesting part is that Matt has played for 13 different teams, but only 12 different franchises as Washington came from Montreal after the 2004 season and he previously played for the Montreal Expos in 1992 and 1993.
Teams include: Montreal – 1992-1993, Boston – 1995, Oakland – 1996-2000, Chicago Cubs – 2001, Milwaukee – 2002, Pittsburgh 2003, Kansas City – 2004-06, Texas – 2006, Detroit – 2006, Toronto – 2007-08, Philadelphia – 2008-09, San Diego – 2010 and Washington – 2011.
The onther record Matt holds is for more career pinch hit HR’s with 23.
