Inductee Display at CBHFM

The Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum was founded in 1982 and for over 40 years has celebrated Canadians working in baseball and those who have had an impact on the sport in Canada. The CBHFM has held induction ceremonies annually since the inaugural induction ceremony on August 3, 1983, with few exceptions. The CBHFM’s inaugural induction ceremony was held at the Queen Elizabeth Building at Exhibition Place in Toronto.

After spending its first years in Toronto, the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum was relocated to St. Marys, Ontario, opening its doors to the public in June 1998. Since that year, induction ceremonies have been held onsite at the CBHFM, at one of the museum’s four baseball fields. In 2021, the CBHFM held its first virtual induction ceremony, electing historically significant and previously overlooked notable persons in Canadian baseball.

Members of the Class of 2020 and Class of 2023 are both being celebrated on June 17, 2023. The inductees being honoured are: Toronto Blue Jays’ John Olerud (2020) and Jesse Barfield (2023); long-time Montreal Expos broadcaster Jacques Doucet (2020); Canadian pitchers Denis Boucher (2023) and Rich Harden (2023); and Manitoba baseball executive and coach Joe Wiwchar (2023).

This exhibit celebrates those chosen for induction in 2023. Each year, artifacts celebrating the inductees’ careers are showcased in the Museum, including some which are featured here online.
