PHILLIES NAME STAIRS AS HITTING COACH

Matt StairsPHILADELPHIA — Matt Stairs is returning to the Phillies’ dugout.

The team announced Wednesday afternoon that Stairs will be its hitting coach next season. He replaces Steve Henderson, whom the team let go in October. Stairs, 48, played for the Phillies from 2008-09, then joined the team’s TV broadcast booth as an analyst in ’14.
