SIXTH CANADIAN GENERAL MANAGER IN MAJOR LEAGUE HISTORY ANNOUNCED

George SelkirkThe LA Dodgers will name Farhan Zaidi their new general manager this week and he will become the sixth Canadian to be a GM in the big leagues.

The other five Canadian GM’s are George Selkirk with the Washington Senators from 1962-68; Murray Cook with the NY Yankees from 1983-84, Montreal Expos from 1984-87 and Cincinnati Reds from 1988-89; Doug Melvin with the Texas Rangers from 1994-2001 and Milwaukee Brewers from 2002-present; Gord Ash with the Toronto Blue Jays from 1994-2001 and Alex Anthopoulos with the Toronto Blue Jays from 2009-present.

George, Murray and Doug are all Inductees into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame.
