SPRING TRAINING NOT LIMITED TO FLORIDA!

Winter ClinicIndoor baseball clinics start Friday, March 12 at DCVI

St. Marys – We share the same time zone as Florida, the days are getting longer here, and the sun seems to be shining an awful lot lately, so why not add in another comparable – let’s commence Spring Training in St. Marys too!

For the ninth consecutive year, the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame, in a joint effort with coaches from St. Marys Minor Ball, will conduct indoor baseball training sessions at St. Marys DCVI high school on Fridays beginning March 12. There will be a total of six sessions, concluding on Friday, April 30, and excluding March 19 (March Break)and April 2 (Easter Break).

The clinics are available to both boys and girls, baseball and softball players, and beginners as well as experienced players. Players born in 2001 or later will attend from 6:00-7:30pm, and those born 2000 or earlier will partake from 7:30-9:00pm.

Best of all, the clinics are free of charge, but players must be pre-registered in order for the Ball Hall to arrange an appropriate number of coaches, bring enough equipment, etc. Please call the Hall’s administration office at 519-284-1838 or email [email protected] a.s.a.p.

Players who are not registered in St. Marys Minor Ball may attend. This is often an opportune environment for parents to test their child’s interest in baseball without a commitment or cost. However, because the deadline for registration for St. Marys Minor Ball has now passed, late registrants are not guaranteed a spot, but will be put on a waiting list. This policy is due to commitments having to be made by now for diamond time, coaches, uniforms, sponsors, league choices, etc.

Participants are asked to bring indoor shoes and change once inside DCVI, and to they are encouraged to bring their own baseball gloves and personal bats if they own one. It is highly recommended that names be written on all personal equipment with a sharpie marker.

“We continue to enjoy a unique and special partnership with the Hall,” said president of St. Marys Minor Ball Lothar Mueller.

“The Hall allows all of our teams to play on their site with them carrying all of the maintenance costs, and these free clinics really kick-start our season!”
