WINDSOR, Ont. — Reno Bertoia, a Windsor resident and former member of the Detroit Tigers, died Friday morning. A member of three different halls of fame, Bertoia was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1994. Born in Italy, Bertoia came to Windsor with his family when he was one-year-old.In 1953, the promising young infielder signed with the Detroit Tigers. He often took the tunnel bus over to home games.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Windsor Chapel, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. Visitation is Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral mass will be Tuesday at 9: 30 a.m. at Assumption Church.
