This Seattle Mariners jersey was worn by James Paxton on August 6, 2016 for a home game against the Los Angeles Angels. Paxton did not pitch in this game, but the jersey was authenticated from the game. The jersey has a patch commemorating Ken Griffey Jr.’s number retirement.
James Paxton is a Canadian professional baseball pitcher from Richmond, British Columbia. He has played for the Seattle Mariners and the New York Yankees, and is signed with the Boston Red Sox for the upcoming 2022 season. Paxton is known as “The Big Maple”. While playing for the Seattle Mariners, Paxton pitched a no-hitter against the Toronto Blue Jays, becoming the first Canadian MLB pitcher to throw a no-hitter in Canada. Paxton was the 2018 winner of the Tip O’Neill Award, presented annually by the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.
