PEORIA, Ariz. — Asked to recount the 11 Major League teams that once employed him, Matt Stairs took in a breath, raised one hand, covered with a batting glove, and began to slowly recite those teams.
“Montreal, Boston, Oakland, Chicago [Cubs], Milwaukee, Pittsburgh,” Stairs said, as he paused briefly, raising his other hand to assist with the counting.
“… Kansas City, Detroit, Texas, Toronto, Philadelphia and now San Diego.”
Stairs, a week shy of his 42nd birthday, wasn’t entirely correct. He hasn’t made the team here, coming to camp on a Minor League deal with no assurances other than the realistic expectation that if he plays well this spring the Padres will be his 12th team. Read more en cliquant ici.
