CBHFM STATEMENT REGARDING THE CENTRAL SCHOOL INITIATIVE

CBHFM statement regarding the Central School initiative

The Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum has been considering the occupation of the former Central School building in St. Marys. Our proposal would have included a partnership with the Town of St. Marys to acquire the property from the Avon Maitland District School Board. However, after a detailed business analysis, the board of directors was unable to identify a sustainable financial model. Therefore, we will no longer be pursuing this initiative.

We are proud of what we have accomplished to date in St. Marys, including hosting an exceptional annual Induction Ceremony festival that is national in scope, branding St. Marys as the proud home of this national institution and tourist destination, and developing a three-diamond 32-acre venue that will have hosted nearly 500 events by year-end. We plan to build on this success by continuing to grow the organization.

We remain committed to St. Marys as the home of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum, and we will continue to build curatorial and financial capacity within the organization so that we are better positioned to take on an expansion of the Hall in the future.
