STATEMENT FROM THE HALL OF FAME BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Council of St. Marys voted to deny our request on Wednesday, December 21 for financial support in a 6-1 recorded vote.

“We are disappointed by the Council vote, especially coming in the wake of demonstrated support for the project in town and through our national and international community of partners and benefactors.  We are confident that we brought forward a realistic, achievable plan to bring economic growth and vitality to our town and regret that those benefits were not embraced.  The Board will meet immediately to consider the results of the vote; the rationale behind it; the comments we heard; the most logical next steps in our development, and the benefits we can bring to our host community.  We will provide updates on those discussions in the New Year.”

“The Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum wishes to thank its countless volunteers and supporters in St. Marys and across the Country for their support and encouragement of the Hall’s Museum expansion project.

The CBHFM Board met on Friday, December 23rd and discussed St. Marys Town Council’s decision not to provide the requested funding for the project. The Board is disappointed with the result and believes this decision is a loss for St. Marys and the CBHFM.

With the vote of Council behind it, the CBHFM Board has begun planning for the future. The CBHFM is in a strong position and its future is bright. We will have more to say on our plans in the New Year.” from CBHFM Board of Directors
